Jackson County Schools

History

Jackson County boasts 17 excellent public and private schools, including a new, state-of-the-art K–8 school serving Marianna. All our schools are dedicated to building a better community. Young people get prepared for success as both educated and caring citizens with strong character, and a passion for lifelong learning.

Jackson County graduates can further their education at several colleges and universities located nearby. Strong workforce training programs are offered at the educational institutions, as well as through the public school system.

Marianna K-8 School

Marianna Opens New K-8 School

Combining the student bodies from Golson Elementary, Riverside Elementary, and Marianna Middle School, the New K-8 school teaches 1900 students on 8 acres.

Linda Long wins Black History Month Educator Award

Grand Ridge teacher wins Education Award

Grand Ridge teacher, Linda Long, was recognized on being named one of only four teachers in the state named a “Black History Month Excellence in Education Award Winner”. Along with the recognition, she received an award of $2,500 from the Governor’s Office.

Graceville STEM Team

Graceville STEM Students compete in SeaPerch

The Graceville STEM Robotics Team competed with over 80 other teams at the University of West Florida in Pensacola with the ROV, “Roberto” that they built.

Chipola College Theatre Performance Program

Chipola College is well known throughout the Southeast for its excellent arts education and programming. Serving more than 6,500 patrons yearly, Chipola Theatre has a tradition of superior ratings by the Florida College System Activities Association.

Tickets for Chipola College productions may be purchased online or at the Chipola College Box Office located in the lobby of the Dr. Gene Prough Center for the Arts.

Meet the Bullpups

The new Marianna K-8 School's mission is to empower students to become self-motivated lifelong learners and intuitive problem-solving members of society who are equipped for the future. The school teaches 1,900 students on eight acres.
